# HVAC Warranty Programs for Contractors, Compared (2026)

Short answer

Six third-party programs a contractor can sign with are compared here: JB Warranties, Noble Administration Network, OnPoint Warranty, Prime Warranty, Trinity Warranty Solutions, and Warranty-RE. They differ on how long coverage runs, whether labor is covered, who stands behind claims, and territory policy. Every fact below comes from each company's own website, checked October 17, 2026.

This guide is for the owner of an HVAC company choosing a warranty partner. It doesn't rank the programs. It puts each one's published terms in the same columns, so you can see where they differ and what to ask before you sign.

#### Key Takeaways

- The fixed-term plans state maximum terms of 10 years (Prime and Trinity) to 12 years (JB Warranties and OnPoint).
- Five of the six sites say an insurer, underwriter, or carrier stands behind the plans. Warranty-RE uses a reinsurance structure the contractor owns.
- Territory policy has the most gaps: four of the six sites don't mention territory at all, so ask every program in writing.
- Carrier, Lennox, and Trane dealer programs are status tiers earned through training and ratings, and none of their program pages mentions a protected territory.

## What HVAC warranty companies work with contractors?

Six third-party programs a contractor can sign with are JB Warranties, Noble Administration Network, OnPoint Warranty, Prime Warranty, Trinity Warranty Solutions, and Warranty-RE. Four sell fixed-term extended plans, one is a lifetime warranty program, and one helps a contractor reinsure its own labor warranty. Here's each one, in alphabetical order.

### JB Warranties

[JB Warranties](https://jbwarranties.com/) sells extended warranty plans that contractors offer their customers, from labor-only plans to parts and labor plans. Its FAQ says plans transfer free of charge, there's no deductible, and a plan can be bought up to 2 years after the equipment's startup date.

### Noble Administration Network

Noble administers a lifetime warranty on the residential HVAC systems a participating retailer installs: central air conditioning, gas furnaces, heat pumps, ductless mini splits, and packaged units. The retailer funds the warranty and builds it into the job price, and Noble doesn't cover commercial equipment.

### OnPoint Warranty

[OnPoint's HVAC page](https://www.onpointwarranty.com/our-solutions/hvac-extended-warranty) is written for manufacturers, distributors, dealers, service providers, and lenders. It says its plans carry no service deductibles and take claims through online submissions.

### Prime Warranty

[Prime Warranty](https://primewarranty.net/) sells plans that enhance manufacturer warranties. A plan can be bought up to 12 months after installation, and Prime says claims need no pre-approval and are reimbursed in 30 days.

### Trinity Warranty Solutions

[Trinity](https://www.trinitywarranty.com/extended-warranty-programs/contractors) sells extended service agreements through contractors. It says there's no pre-approval for claims and no deductible, and residential equipment counts as new for up to 2 years after installation.

### Warranty-RE

[Warranty-RE](https://warranty-re.com/hvac-warranty-reinsurance/) doesn't sell a warranty under its own name. It lets a contractor reinsure the installation labor warranty it already offers, with a fee built into each proposal going into a reinsurance account the contractor owns.

## How do HVAC warranty programs for contractors compare?

Here are the six side by side, in alphabetical order. The first table covers the coverage itself: what each program is, how long it lasts, labor, and who stands behind claims. The second covers how the program works with your shop: territory, maintenance, and marketing support. Each row links to its source.

#### How We Compared

We read each company's own website on October 17, 2026, and used only what those pages state. "Not stated on its site" means the pages linked in that row don't say. We didn't score or rank the programs. Noble Administration Network publishes this blog, and its row comes from its own program pages under the same rule. Read more about how we research and compare.

![Chart of the longest term each program states on its own website: JB Warranties up to 12 years of parts coverage from installation, Noble no set term while the homeowner owns the home and keeps up spring and fall service, OnPoint Warranty up to 12 years, Prime Warranty up to 10 years, Trinity 1, 2, 3, 5, or 10 years on residential equipment, and Warranty-RE not stated, with a 2-year labor warranty as its example](https://www.nobleadminnetwork.com/hs-fs/hubfs/noble-blog/noble-f17-12-longest-term-by-program.jpeg?width=1456&height=720&name=noble-f17-12-longest-term-by-program.jpeg)

Three columns are worth a second look. On term, Warranty-RE doesn't state one, because the contractor sets its own labor warranty. On commercial work, JB covers commercial equipment up to 25 tons, Prime covers commercial and industrial equipment, and Trinity offers commercial terms of 5 or 10 years. On maintenance, Trinity and JB suggest pairing a maintenance agreement with each sale without making it a condition of coverage. What to put in an HVAC maintenance agreement covers the terms and pricing.

## Are third-party HVAC warranty programs insurance-backed?

Most say they are. Five of the six sites say an insurer, underwriter, or carrier stands behind the plans, and the sixth, Warranty-RE, uses a reinsurance structure the contractor owns. Only some name the insurer or its rating, so ask each program for both in writing.

![Chart of who each program says stands behind its plans: JB Warranties names Dealers Assurance Company, Noble cites a national, brand-name A-rated insurer, OnPoint Warranty says its plans are fully underwritten without naming the insurer, Prime Warranty cites A-rated carriers, Trinity cites multiple A rated insurance companies, and Warranty-RE uses a reinsurance structure the contractor owns](https://www.nobleadminnetwork.com/hs-fs/hubfs/noble-blog/noble-d17-12-who-backs-the-plans.jpeg?width=1456&height=720&name=noble-d17-12-who-backs-the-plans.jpeg)

[The JB Warranties FAQ](https://jbwarranties.com/faqs) names Dealers Assurance Company as the company that underwrites and insures its plans, and says that company's rating was upgraded from "A-" to "A" in March 2020. [The JB contractor page](https://jbwarranties.com/hvac-extended-warranty-program-contractors) describes "an A+ insurance underwriter," so ask JB which rating applies today and which agency issued it. Prime cites A-rated carriers and Trinity cites "A" rated insurance companies, and neither names them on the pages we read. OnPoint says its plans are fully underwritten without naming the insurer or a rating. Warranty-RE is the different case: claims are paid from a reinsurance account the contractor owns, so the contractor carries the risk of its own claims.

The question that matters most is what happens to open contracts if the program company stops operating. [What happens to an HVAC warranty if the company closes](https://www.nobleadminnetwork.com/blog/insurance-backed-hvac-warranty) walks through who pays a claim in that case.

## Do HVAC warranty programs give a contractor a protected territory?

Only two of the six sites mention territory or exclusivity. JB Warranties' home page lists "Exclusive Partnerships Access" without defining it, and the second site's policy is quoted word for word in the territory column above. OnPoint, Prime, Trinity, and Warranty-RE don't mention territory on the pages we read.

If a protected area matters to your shop, ask every program the same question in writing: can another shop near me sell this program, and where does the agreement say so? Ask what a shop has to do to keep it, too. An answer that isn't in the agreement isn't a policy. If territory matters because you keep losing bids to cheaper quotes, [how to stop competing on price in HVAC](https://www.nobleadminnetwork.com/blog/stop-competing-on-price-hvac) covers that problem.

## How are manufacturer dealer programs different?

Carrier, Lennox, and Trane dealer programs are status tiers a shop earns through training and customer ratings. They aren't warranty programs, and none of the three program pages we read mentions a protected territory. The status tells a homeowner you're trained on the brand. A warranty program tells her who pays for a covered repair later.

| Program | How a shop earns it | Protected territory | Source and date checked |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer** | Extensive factory training, local licenses, insurance, and excellent customer satisfaction scores | Not stated on Carrier's page | [Carrier dealer page](https://www.carrier.com/us/en/residential/carrier-factory-authorized-dealers.html); checked October 17, 2026 |
| **Lennox Premier Dealer** | Training to design, install, service, and maintain systems, and a 4-star rating among consumers | Not stated on Lennox's page | [Lennox dealer page](https://www.lennox.com/buyers-guide/why-buy-lennox/lennox-premier-dealers); checked October 17, 2026 |
| **Trane Comfort Specialist** | Testing in the Trane Training Program and a Google rating of 4.6 or higher | Not stated on Trane's page | [Trane dealer page](https://www.trane.com/residential/en/resources/glossary/charter-member/); checked October 17, 2026 |

![Chart of what three manufacturer dealer statuses ask of a shop: Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer requires factory training, licenses, insurance, and excellent customer satisfaction scores; Lennox Premier Dealer requires a 4-star rating among consumers; Trane Comfort Specialist requires a Google rating of 4.6 or higher and Trane Training Program testing. None of the three program pages mentions a protected territory](https://www.nobleadminnetwork.com/hs-fs/hubfs/noble-blog/noble-d16-12-manufacturer-dealer-status.jpeg?width=1456&height=720&name=noble-d16-12-manufacturer-dealer-status.jpeg)

These standards describe the shop, not the coverage on the system, so a shop can hold a dealer status and offer a third-party program too. The manufacturer's own warranty usually covers some parts, with registration, for 5 to 10 years, and labor is not included on most brands. [Carrier](https://www.carrier.com/residential/en/us/homeowner-resources/warranty/) offers 10 years of parts, or 5 years of parts plus 3 of labor, to owners who register within 90 days, and [Lennox's](https://www.lennox.com/warrantyyourway) default warranty covers parts only, though registered owners can trade some parts years for 3 years of labor (both checked October 2026). That labor gap is what third-party programs fill.

## Is a contractor warranty program the same as a home warranty?

No. A contractor warranty program is sold through the HVAC company that installs the system. A home warranty is a service contract a homeowner buys directly, covering many systems and appliances in the home. Home-warranty companies such as American Home Shield sell to homeowners, not to contractors.

[American Home Shield](https://www.ahs.com/) describes its home warranty as "an annual, renewable service contract," charges a service fee each time the homeowner places a service request, and lists a limit of $5,000 per covered HVAC system in its plan details. That's a different product from the programs above, which a contractor signs up for and offers on the systems it installs.

## How do you choose an HVAC warranty program for your shop?

Start with the job you need the warranty to do for your shop, then compare only the programs that fit it. A residential replacement shop, a commercial contractor, and a shop that wants to carry its own risk will end up with different shortlists from the same table.

Our guide to [choosing an HVAC warranty program for your shop](https://www.nobleadminnetwork.com/blog/hvac-extended-warranty-programs-compared) turns the columns above into a scorecard you can fill in for each program. Once you've picked one, [how to sell an HVAC warranty](https://www.nobleadminnetwork.com/blog/how-to-sell-hvac-warranty) has the words for the kitchen table. [The FTC](https://www.ftc.gov/business-guidance/resources/businesspersons-guide-federal-warranty-law) requires written warranties on consumer products costing more than $15 to be available to consumers before they buy, so ask for the contract and the homeowner's terms before you sign.

#### Example: Adding Coverage to a System You Installed Last Year

A homeowner calls 18 months after you installed her heat pump and asks about longer coverage. JB Warranties allows a plan up to 2 years from the equipment's startup date, and Trinity treats residential equipment as new for up to 2 years after installation, so both windows are still open. Prime allows a plan up to 12 months from installation, so that window has closed. Check the purchase window before you promise coverage later.

#### Questions to Ask Any Program Before You Sign

- Does the plan pay labor at a rate that covers your technician's time?
- Who is the insurer or underwriter, what is its rating, and which agency issued it?
- What happens to open contracts and claims if the program company stops operating?
- Can another shop near you sell the same program, and where does the agreement say so?
- What maintenance does the homeowner have to keep up, and who performs it?
- What marketing materials and training come with the program, and what do they cost?

## Questions & Answers

**Which HVAC company has the best warranty?**

It depends on what you need the warranty to do. Compare programs on six columns: how long coverage runs, whether labor is covered and at what rate, who stands behind claims, the territory policy, the maintenance the homeowner must keep up, and the marketing support you get.

**What are the top HVAC warranty companies for contractors?**

Six third-party programs a contractor can sign with are JB Warranties, Noble Administration Network, OnPoint Warranty, Prime Warranty, Trinity Warranty Solutions, and Warranty-RE, listed alphabetically. They work differently: four sell fixed-term extended plans, one is a lifetime warranty program, and one helps a contractor reinsure its own labor warranty.

**Are third-party HVAC warranty programs insurance-backed?**

Most say so on their own sites. JB Warranties names its insurer, Prime and Trinity cite A-rated carriers and insurers, OnPoint says its plans are fully underwritten, and Noble cites a national, brand-name A-rated insurance company. Warranty-RE uses a reinsurance structure the contractor owns.

**Do manufacturer dealer programs come with a protected territory?**

Not on the pages we read. Carrier's Factory Authorized Dealer page, Lennox's Premier Dealer page, and Trane's Comfort Specialist page describe training, ratings, and customer satisfaction standards, and none of them mentions a protected territory. They're status tiers a shop earns, not warranty programs.

**How much does an HVAC warranty program cost a contractor?**

None of the six shows contractor prices on the pages we read, and JB Warranties' FAQ points contractors to a price book on its site. Prime Warranty says its rates are based on the type of equipment, your labor reimbursement rate, and the length of coverage. JB Warranties says the equipment brand doesn't affect its pricing. Warranty-RE says a warranty fee is built into the job price and goes into the contractor's reinsurance account.

## Noble Administration Network

Noble partners with one residential HVAC retailer per territory to offer a lifetime warranty on the systems they install. The homeowner doesn't pay a cent for it.

Warranty-RE says a warranty fee is built into the job price and goes into the contractor's reinsurance account."
